As co founder and one-third shareholder of Nye Financial Group Inc. John Nye has almost 35 years of experience in the building of client relationships. It is those relationships with both clients and staff that have been the foundation of the Nye Financial Group. John, already a seasoned life insurance producer, elected to specialize on the needs and concerns of retirees when he and his two sons formed Nye Financial Group in 1990 in Hudson, Ohio where the corporate headquarters are located.
Under his leadership, he and his two sons’ Rick and Randy quickly developed an expertise utilizing specific tools offered by the life insurance industry. First, Single Premium Whole Life (SPWL) was made available, and throughout the early to mid 1980’s offered a very attractive tax shelter for John’s clientele. At that time SPWL offered tax-free accumulations, tax-free distributions and a tax-free death benefit, all without market risk. As SPWL blossomed so did John as a public speaker, and Nye Financial Group began offering topic specific seminars to the public. Today John is the key speaker for many of our Florida seminars and has educated thousands regarding Advanced Estate Planning, IRA Distribution, Annuity Maximization, and Wealth Preservation strategies.

As Nye Financial Group was being formed he and his son Randy discovered an interesting phenomenon happening in the life insurance industry. They noticed price discrepancies in Underwritten Single Premium Immediate Annuity pay-outs and the cost of Life Insurance. Both products are priced in large part on the actuarial assessment of life expectancy, particularly for those between the ages of 70 and 90. This was the beginning of a concept for which Nye Financial has coined the term Annuity / Life Arbitrage. It was now possible to receive high levels of guaranteed life-time income with no market risk, coupled with a wealth transfer platform that passes wealth income and estate tax-free for the client’s beneficiaries. Much of John’s business today and that of Nye Financial Group’s is based on the Annuity / Life concept.
John holds a BA in Education from West Virginia Wesleyan College and in 2005 was inducted into that University’s Athletic Hall of Fame for Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country and Track. He also holds a Masters degree in Education from Kent State University. He holds resident and non-resident licenses for Life and Annuity in Florida, Ohio, and many other States in which he conducts business. He also holds the NASD Series 6, 22, and 63 licenses.

Mr. Nye's success is reflected in his achievement as a leading producer with several insurance industry carriers along with his continuous qualification as a Top of the Table member with the Million Dollar Round Table. Membership to the prestigious Top of the Table is an exclusive forum for the world's best life insurance and financial services professionals. He is also an active member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals.
Mr. Nye has been invited to speak before many civic and professional groups in addition to insurance industry conventions. He has also hosted an Advice Line program on a local radio station.
These days John enjoys the game of golf. While not playing for long he’s quickly developed into a competitive golfer. Beating his two sons’ on the golf course is a fact that doesn’t go unnoticed. Beyond the game of golf John welcomes every chance he gets to spend time with his grandchildren and keeps a standing invitation to his entire family to visit him at his Tierra Verde, Florida home.
In February of 2006 John lost his wife of 44 years to an undiagnosed heart condition. Nicki was not only his childhood sweetheart and his life partner but an integral member of Nye Financial Group. She is sorely missed. With his two sons’ their wives, and his 7 grandchildren to support him, he now looks to add more chapters to his life as Nicki would have insisted.
